Summer Art Camp-Scarborough

Clearview summer camp is unique in that we introduce Chinese language and culture bilingually so that children from different backgrounds can enjoy them, providing a great cultural experience for everyone!

Camp features:

  • 1. Mandarin lessons: In addition to learning the language, the lessons will include stories from Journey to the West (Monkey King), Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Outlaws of the Marsh, as well as drama, in both Chinese and English.
  • 2. Drama skits will include moral stories or life lessons and the teachers will emphasize the moral of the story and how the children can apply it in daily life.
  • 3. The multicultural presentations for summer camp 2013 will be:
    • 1) Korean Culture
    • 2) Columbian Culture
    • 3) Romanian Culture
    • 4) African culture (to be confirmed)
  • 4. In order to enrich the camp experience, the children will be taken on one field trip per session.
    This year the field trips will be:
    • --Whittamore's Farm
    • --Edwards Gardens
    • --Kidstown
    • --Casa Loma
Camp Schedule:

  • Session One: July 2nd-12th (July 1st is a holiday)
  • Session Two: July 15th-26th
  • Session Three: July 29th—Aug. 9th (Aug. 5th is a holiday)
  • Session Four: Aug. 12th-23rd Camp Hours: 9:00am—4:00pm
School opens:8:30am—6:00pm (Extended hours will be included)
Registration fee: $25/person   $40/family

Camp Options:

  • A Mandarin Camp:Mandarin/Calligraphy/Drama/Craft/Paper Cutting/Chinese story/Field Trip/Multicultural Presentation $388/session
  • B Art Camp: Mandarin/Calligraphy/Cooking/Drama/Paper Cutting/Lion Dance/Field Trip/Multicultural Presentation $438/session
  • C Dance Camp:Dance (twice per week) /Mandarin/Calligraphy/Cooking/Drama/Lion Dance/Field Trip/Multicultural Presentation $ 499/session
  • D Voice Camp:Singing and Music Theory (twice per week)/ Mandarin/Calligraphy/Cooking/Drama/Lion Dance/Field Trip/Multicultural Presentation $ 499/session
  • E Visual Arts Camp:Drawing/Clay sculpting (both once per week) Mandarin/Calligraphy/Cooking/Drama/Lion Dance/Field Trip/Multicultural Presentation $499/session
Age: 5-12 Capacity: 35 people/session (In order to ensure quality, registration will stop once it’s full).
Lunch: Self-prepared, re-heating is available at the school. Afternoon snack will be provided.
Camp Inclusions and Notes

  1. 1 It is suggested, but not required, to register for more than one session in order to maximally benefit from the classes.
  2. 2 All fees include field trips, bus services and a camp T-shirt.
  3. 3 $50 will apply to a referral, only if the referred child registers for 2 sessions or more.
  4. 4 A second and third child from the same family will receive a 5% discount.
